JRS Romania

Our Team

Different professions and experiences, brought together to support refugees and migrants

JRS Romania brings together people with training and experience across a wide range of fields: social work, law, education, psychology, speech and language therapy, intercultural mediation and employment support. Our team also includes colleagues with expertise in project management, finance and accounting, human resources, administration, procurement and logistics, communications, advocacy, fundraising, monitoring and evaluation. Together, we support refugees, migrants and other vulnerable people in Romania.

A team that brings together languages, cultures and life experiences

Our colleagues come from Romania and other countries, including people who have themselves experienced displacement or settled in a new country. Each brings professional knowledge, an individual perspective and an understanding of the communities they come from.

For a teacher, mediator or adviser, knowing someone’s language and cultural background can make it easier to build a connection. Within our team, these experiences help us better understand the situations we encounter and learn from one another.

Every role contributes to the support people receive

Some of our colleagues work directly with children, adults and families, in centres, in communities or online. Others develop projects, monitor budgets, organise procurement, manage data and maintain relationships with partners and donors.

A course

A course needs a teacher, but also materials, a suitable space and funding.

A housing support programme

A housing support programme involves working with families, alongside managing contracts, payments and paperwork on time.

Every colleague’s work contributes to what we can offer.

Volunteers and collaborators who contribute their time and skills

Volunteers and collaborators complement our team’s work through their knowledge, time and experience. They take part in educational and community activities and contribute to initiatives supporting refugees and migrants. Among them are people from the communities we support who choose to get involved and help others.
